Del Mar Station to the Arroyo Seco Bike Path

We’re linking.  Not website linking, not blog linking, but finally we’ve linked the metro and bike paths for the first time.

We parked at the Del Mar Station, level P2 for $2, perfect! And then headed up Del Mar to Orange Grove. ( These are busy streets and I prefer sidewalks, against traffic ).   Perfectly legal in case you’re wondering.

We continued down Orange Grove, turned right on Madeline.  Now we’re in the neighborhoods, quiet streets which were empty and safer to ride.

This is a beautiful neighborhood, one of Pasadena’s finest!  Tree lined streets, old growth and lots of shade.  We continued South toward South Pasadena and the Arroyo Seco bike path, (once again the entrance is on Arroyo Verde just south of Pasadena Avenue ), a wonderful curvy path about a 6 mile round trip.

Bill and I exited the path and zigzagged a few streets over to El Centro. another tree lined wide                                                                                      street with a marked bike path.

This brought us into South Pasadena. We decided to try Heirloom Bakery.  The food was good but atmosphere left a bit to be desired, very little shade and lots of toddlers having melt downs. Plus the service was slow and disorganized.  I can’t stand empty plates that take forever to get cleared! Oh well, plenty of restaurants to try as we continue exploring.

Bought our train tickets,

and boarded the Gold Line north to the Del Mar Station with our bikes.  Yay!

This was another worthwhile and really fun adventure.  I still can’t believe how different our city appears from the seat of my bicycle.  Awesome!  Stay tuned for more….
